In response to Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge: Foul & Sweet
Unopened choc’late
Was a treat from holidays
But the sweet turned foul.
This happened to me just last night, so I wished I’d taken a picture of the off chocolate before I threw it in the bin. Actually, it was the very same chocolate which I had written a haiku about after I’d come back from holidays last year. I had called it “green tea and daggers“. Above is the photo I took after I came back from holidays (that’s 11th October 2014 for my American friends).
It was my last green tea flavoured kitkat, and it had gone all permanently half-melted…
On another note, how many syllables are in chocolate? I pronounce it as “choc’late” so I wrote it like that to emphasis that pronunciation, but I suppose there must be some people who pronounce it properly. Does anyone here pronounce the whole three syllables?
And thanks again to Ronovan for another great haiku challenge!
I love your haiku. I am having a hard time with the words this week.

Figured it’s how us Aussies pronounce it 🙂

Green tea chocolate, wow, seems delicious! I love everything made with green tea. Great haiku, I’m sorry it has turned foul.

I love green tea too. Maeve Binchy has a recipe for green tea panna cottas, and they are AMAZING! Thanks for the comment 🙂

I pronounced the “choc-late” in two as you wrote it… You still got it 5-7-5 correctly! 🙂

Awesome! Seems like everyone here pronounces it as two syllabus. Why do we even have that extra o?

I feel embarrassed to admit this…but I definitely thought “Hey, I know that kit-kat!” Haha. I remember being fascinate by the green tea concept back then too. Love the haiku. I also pronounce chocolate with 2 syllables…I have never met someone who says all 3. So we must be right 😉

Ha! I say choc’late too, so perhaps you also say may’naise? 😉 Big bummer about the sweet treat gone bad, but yay! to the inspiration, a fab Haiku!

Thanks! Everyone seems to say choc’late, but I do actually say mayonnaise. The yon is definitely there for me, how weird!

Green tea flavored kit kat?? Now I’ve seen everything! And I believe (in the US) we all pronounce it as choc’late. At least I do. I’m not sure I’ve come across anyone yet who says choc-O-late. 🙂

Oh! I don’t have a big sweet-tooth, I prefer the savory so I put the sweets away for a day that I may crave it. By the time I get to it usually looks like the candy in your picture. This has happened to me so many times. Great haiku! 🙂
